It's - 28 Celsius (that's -18.4 for you Americans). It's cold. Really really cold.
So as my kids left the house this morning this was the drill.
Me with Kid One. Do up your coat. Do you have a hat? Put it on. Yes your hood is fine as long as you wear it. Do you have gloves? Really? Show me. Gloves in your locker at school do not count as you head out to the bus stop. Get different gloves. Do up your coat. And put up your hood. Really.
Me with Kid Two. Do up your coat. It's really cold. Do you have a hat? Put it on. Do you have gloves? Really? Show me. Do up your coat. Do up your coat. I SEE you. Now do up your coat.
I did a pass on nagging my husband who wasn't wearing a hat or gloves or even boots. But he was already cranky. So I just gave it a miss.
Sigh...
I'm going to layer up and go to work. I really wish I had a remote car starter this morning.

Do up your coat.

I love it.
Sin,
Soooo glad it doesn't get that cold around here!!! Seriously thrilled.
But the interactions with the kids sound soooo similar!!!

sin -- This made me laugh... and contemplate that, at school, I'd do that exact same routine with Kid 1, and Kid 2, and Kid 3, and Kid 4, and... Kid 20, and Kid 30, and Kid 45!
Stay warm, friend!
Sue
thank goodness!!
i do this with middle son who is making me NUTS with the need to wear his fucking skinny jeans (that show half his underpants, and I HATE IT!)
but with no spousal support, "kids will be kids"....
someday i fully expect him to have frostbite on his nuts....
c'est la vie?

Here in our hideaway it may get into single digits at night. We're at 7200 feet. But its rarely that cold.
Do you plug your cars in at night?
Mick
@Mindset - I want to live in Texas, especially in January!
@LM - I did do up my coat, really. I even wore a hat!
@Mouse - yes, it's reassuring sometimes to know that it's not just our kids isn't it?
@Aisha - yes, yes, and yes. Yes it's really that cold. Or it was. and then yesterday was a snow day (no school and everything!), much warmer, freezing rain and then snow and then more freezing rain. And much colder overnight and today, and now everything is frozen solid. Literally. I had to force my car doors open this morning. I do not love Canada in January.
@Sue - and that's why I'm not a teacher. I can't imagine it.
@Nilla - oh I have a funny jeans and underpants story - remind me.
@Mick. We used to plug cars in, but not so much these days. I don't know if they make them better now, or if I just have a better car now. Maybe both?
