I'm on record as saying that Valentine's Day and D/s don't really go together. The sexual nature of the beast just doesn't seem to mesh with the hearts and flowers and romance of Hallmark Day. Err. Valentine's Day.
My Big Bad Dom thinks otherwise. He's ... incredibly romantic actually. When he wants to be. Which isn't all the time, but often enough.
So I dunno. I think he has me convinced. Valentine's Day is for lovers. And we are that. Lovers.
Our relationship mystifies me sometimes. It overwhelms me sometimes. It's huge and surprising and wonderful and emotional. He is brilliant and charming and dark. He is infuriating and cruel. He's my addiction, my obsession and my love.My sweet Daddy and my dark Master.
So... I guess I'm coming around. Valentine's Day is for lovers. And we are that, along with so many other things. Lovers. It has kind of a funny ring to it.

I love the way you explained your feelings for Daddy. I often feel overwhelmed as well and it is good to know I am not alone. Happy Valentine's Day!
:D Wonderfully stated. D/s relationships are still relationships. There are many of us who blend that dynamic with a traditonal relationship: Why shouldn't we also enjoy Valentine's Day :D
Enjoy yours!
I to agree that it's hard to mince this day with D/s... but then again, S and I haven't been closer than since we have started ttwd!
Happy Valentines Day!
I think they can go together its just dependent on how one views Valentine's Day, i have never been one to celebrate it even before i became involved in an M/s dynamic i just dont like the materialism of it.
My Owner is the same neither of us are terribly romantic, i think where my viewpoint differs is that i dont see him as my lover (although love is present), he is my Owner first and foremost.
But thats me and i do believe in love very much so.

I'm with Michael. Valentine's Day derives from - among other ancient celebrations - Lupercalia. Men running around the streets naked, whipping the women with leather things. Works pretty well with D/s, don't you think?
I just have to comment since my word ver is Bacchus,. Yes the comma was part of it, not just lousy typing.
You love him, He loves you. He feeds something deep in you, you feed something deep in him. Sounds like lovers to me. Roses, chocolate, or pain, it's still a gift.
Ahhhh....
Hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day!
